The Digital World has moved into a new eraof Knowledge expansion giving rise to digital consciousness. And with that we mean with every passing day, technology is breaking all the boundaries. Little did we know that there is more web than what’s shown to us. Many of us still believe that the world wide web comprises of all the digital data present online. Very handful of people know there is more data present in the encrypted network around the world. This gives us reason to define the difference between Surface Web, Deep Web& Dark Web. So let’s get started.
What is surface web?
Essentially the visible web, that is, the Web as is it is generally thought of: static websites (though many connect to Deep Web databases, such as Amazon.com). Example of Surface Web pages may includeGoogle,Facebook,YouTube,the New York Times, and other websites. Iffat & Sami provide an adequate working definition of the Surface Web:
What is deep web
The deep Web, sometimes called the invisible Web, is the large part of theInternetthat is inaccessible to conventionalsearch engines. Deep Web contentincludes email messages,chat messages, private content on social media sites, electronic bank statements, electronic health records (EHRs) and other content that is accessible over the Internetbut is not crawled and indexed by search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing orDuckDuckGo.
What is dark web??
dark webis theWorld Wide Webcontent that exists ondarknets;overlay networkswhich use theInternetbut require specific software, configurations or authorization to access. The dark web forms a small part of thedeep web, the part of the Web notindexedbysearch engines, although sometimes the term"deep web" is mistakenly used to refer specifically to the dark web.
How to access dark web
Not all Dark Web sites use Tor. Some use similar services such as I2P, for example the Silk Road Reloaded. But the principle remains the same. The visitor has to use the same encryption tool as the site and - crucially - know where to find the site, in order to type inthe URL
